Kawakawa Leaf Herbal Tea (Macropiper excelsum)
Kawakawa is a New Zealand native plant and was one of the most important plants in Traditional Maori Medicine - Rongoa. Used as a healing or tonic herb is is still popular today. Kawakawa may be useful for kidney and urinary complaints and as a blood cleanser for boils and other skin conditions including eczema. Kawakawa is also helpful for the digestive tract for conditions such as bloating due to overeating. Kawakawa may be combined with another New Zealand native herb, kumarahou, for bronchitis. Externally it can be used in creams, balms or as a poultice to help heal skin conditions and wounds.
